KEIRON BENSON | director and principal designer
I’ve always loved design. As a kid, I spent a whole lot of time building cubbies in the bushland near our home in Albany with whatever materials I could find or exploring abandoned buildings where my imagination for what the space could be, would soar. My hobby led me to study architecture while working as a builders’ assistant. Later, I also completed a Building Science Diploma as I was keen to understand more about construction.
In my twenties I travelled, and worked under the wings of some well-known architects in Queensland, where I developed a deep knowledge of design and construction. I gained insight into all facets of the design and building process—as well as the confidence to start Benson Design in 1999.
Recently, I was awarded an ‘Open Class Specialist’ accreditation with Design Matters National - DMN and continue my education via their professional development program.
Working with clients to make their ideas come to life is rewarding and gives me great joy. With meticulous consideration of your vision—the way you live, work, and relax—I’m here to guide you through the process in the way that best suits you.
In my free time, I love to explore our rugged coastline by kayak, mountain bike, or on foot. Thanks to strong connections to the landscape, my designs reflect my love of the outdoors and respect for the environment.
HOLLIE BENSON | interiors + practice manager
Having grown up surrounded by interior designers in my family, with a passion for ‘making a house a home,’ interior design was a natural step for me. After studying design, I spent time working in both retail and wholesale, servicing residential and commercial interior designers and stylists.
I’m a social butterfly, and I love getting to know our clients. As Practice Manager, I’m the first person you’ll speak to at the beginning of your design process, and I’m here to help with anything you might need along the way.
Interior design is an essential finishing touch for any space and I’m available for interior design consultation. You’ll spend years in your new home, and it’s my honour to help you find your style and bring it to life.
EM DABY | BIM technician
With 20 years’ experience and a Diploma in Building Design, Em is a valuable member of the Benson Design team. She is fluent in the latest Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, including ArchiCAD, which we use to design, document, and visualise each project.
From ideation to final drawings (and everything in between) Em’ adds value to every project she touches. Working alongside Keiron, her work is integral to the design process. Thanks to incredible 3D modeling, it allows our clients to get a true sense of the scale, proportions, and functionality of every part of their project.
THOM REES | graduate architect
After being raised in Albany, I have had a diverse career working with Architects, Designers and Builders on projects across WA and Australia, with a keen focus on residential works. However, I keep finding myself coming back and working for Keiron.
Graduating from UWA with a Masters in Architecture, I enjoy finding creative and practical ways to problem-solving, across design and construction, with a collaborative approach to all parties involved.
I often start my mornings at the beach followed by a coffee and time with my family.
